Elena Rykova

Elena Rykova is experimental composer and artist. Her work incorporates various disciplines of art. Mapping her sound world on paper, she draws her scores by hand, which are often exhibited independently in art museums. Her interest spans from: correlation between musical cartography and choreography of sound, speaking sound objects that script human behavior, map as a form of creative analytical thinking - to interconnection between dance movement and functional gesture of musicians, influence of symbolic graphic scores on performers’ interpretation and their relationship with a score as a speaking object, switch of the context within the context [e.g. of the concert] and coexistence of micro situations (object – object) within macro situations (object – performer) and meta situations (performer – performer) in musical pieces.
