Schola Heidelberg

The KlangForum Heidelberg with its two ensembles, the "SCHOLA HEIDELBERG" and the ensemble "Aisthesis", has accepted the invitation of the ENSEMS Festival of Valencia. The reason for the invitation was the composition commissioned to the Italian composer Aureliano Cattaneo (who still resides in Spain). This composition was commissioned by the KlangForum Heidelberg for its own festival, "DIKTATUREN", in October 2017. The piece, Sasso nell 'Oceano, premiered on October 29, 2017 in Heidelberg with great success.

The composition in charge focuses on the political problems (lamentably current) of the dictatorships. Works with texts of one of the best works of Antonio Gramsci, Lettere dal Carcere (Letters from prison). Gramsci operated as an opponent of Benito Mussolini and founded the Italian Communist Party. In November 1926, Gramsci was arrested for high treason and imprisoned by the fascist regime until 1935. During these years, he wrote Lettere dal carcere.

The composition of Cattaneo Sasso nell'Oceano will be framed by pieces by Elena Mendoza, José María Sánchez-Verdú and Stefano Gervasoni, the latter of which will also be present at the festival in Valencia.
